Daedalus Astronautics

Daedalus Astronautics is a completely student-run organization at Arizona State University dedicated to the design, manufacture, and launching of large high-powered rockets. Members of the organization undertake advanced astronautical engineering projects to enhance their educational experience and develop professional skills, and all backgrounds are welcomed. Daedalus members participate in conferences, rocket competitions, and have a history of success that includes the larger part of this decade. Daedalus Astronautics owes much of it's success to it's sponsors over the years like ASU/NASA Space Grant, Raytheon Missile Systems, Alliant Techsystems, Orbital Sciences, Aerojet-Rocketdyne, DATAQ Instruments, and many more."

Daedalus continues to set a high standard of engineering excellence as they rank nationally at both AIAA student conferences and at various rocket competitions. Daedalus was also featured in the Science Channel's Large, Dangerous Rocket Ships in October of 2011. This year, Daedalus is attempting a "back to basics" approach, to establish a strong and stable knowledge and technical base for which future students can continue to build and learn from. Technical studies and experiments continue, with a completion of more than 100 tests in the 2013-2014 year. Currently, there are several rockets in the Daedalus arsenal with 10,000 ft ranges, one with the potential to achieve 70,000 ft, and a multi-mission flight-capable hybrid rocket motor system. Community and School Outreach efforts are as strong as ever with a planned 1,500 students to be reached this year.
