I am currently a junior, Barrett Honors student studying biomedical engineering (BME) at ASU. I have researched in Dr. Jeffrey LaBelle's lab since my freshman year, and have been part of several projects including: the detection of trace contaminants in gray water, the electrochemical detection of glucose, and the immobilization of hormone antibodies on electrode surfaces to detect targets via electrochemical impedance spectroscopy. I have also been an undergraduate teaching assistant for a BME course on prototyping and marketing. Both of these positions have enabled me to become extremely organized and very willing to take initiative. I have also received a significant amount of knowledge on BME research techniques and industry procedures through my work experience. Finally, I have been an active member of an on campus organization called Science Detectives since my freshman year. This group leads hands-on, experimentally-driven science lessons at elementary schools after school. I am currently the Organization Chair of this program, so I am in charge of initiating conversations with local schools, recruiting, organizing teams, training, and planning community outreach events.
