Daming Dominic Chen is a sophomore majoring in Computer Science at Arizona State University, and a student at Barrett, The Honors College. He has been working with Dr. Amiya Bhattacharya on the development of community sensor grid framework since his freshman year, and is also president and founder of the Association for Computer Systems Security. At the same time, he has also performed electrical design and fabrication work for the NASA Space Grant Robotics, and has created an ultraviolet water purification system for the student chapter of Engineers Without Borders, of which he is also webmaster.

For his NASA/Space Grant internship, Dominic will be working with Dr. Alberto Behar on the design and implementation of the electrical and programming subsystems of the Micro-Submersible Lake Exploration Device (MSLED), a miniaturized autonomous submersible for investigating subglacial lakes and other hazardous aquatic environments. Designed to measure hydrological and biological characteristics of subglacial water systems, MSLED is currently slated for deployment during the 2013-2014 Antarctic summer season in collaboration with the Whillans Ice Stream Subglacial Access Research Drilling (WISSARD) project.
